Cooling Tower Registration

All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must register with the local authority under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992. Any concerns can be reported to the Environmental Health team.

A registration form can be downloaded from the related downloads section of this page, which should be returned to the Council’s Environmental Health team.

The Health and Safety Executive website has useful information on the legislation and guidance relating to the management of water systems and the control of legionella, including the national approved Code of Practice called L8. This is relevant to the operators of cooling systems, spa pools and hot and cold water systems.
